PELUM Rwanda was set up in 2003. It is hosted by RWARRI. So far:
- A Board was elected; the chairman is John Bideri from RWARRI
- A country desk coordinator was employed to provide a boost of energy and pace to PELUM
- An action plan was developed for the development of PELUM-Rwanda until September 2005
- Constitution was developed in English, ratified by the Regional Board. Funds to engage a lawyer to translate and work on the Constitution in Kinyarwanda (the Constitution must be submitted in both languages) are being sourced.
- Some funds for a tree planting project have since been sourced and the work will begin soon
- It has seven member organisations
PELUM Rwanda has also planned for the following projects:
- Nyamata School- to provide the expertise to set up the first ever Secondary Level Agriculture curriculum in Rwanda
- HIV/AIDS Nutrition Gardens- to work with an HIV/AIDS organisation in one of the districts to provide training on production of crops integral to good diet for HIV/AIDS sufferers
- Set up a seed bank
