Small grains project |
We are working to help small scale farmers earn a living by growing indigenous food crops. Join us. Since March, our agriculture Officer Wlfred Miga has been working with Christian Aid to find avenues for small scale farmers to grow indigenous food crops and sell them in a competitive market. The Small Grains Project which is currently in Phase one, is running in three countries at the moment Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Different lands have indigenous food crops that are resistant to disease and can grow there with out being directly affected by the changing weather patterns and still preserve the soil. Small scale farmers can grow these indigenous crops cheaply and productively and provide their communities with healthy and sustainable foods. We are advocating for policy makers and SADC governments to put in place policies that will give small scale farmers growing indigenous crops the same promotion and market privileges enjoyed by farmers growing other crops. |
